WienCityGuide.com is a German-language city guide to Vienna: around 90 curated places, organised by district and category, plus a blog with tips for visiting. It is built around reliable information – and an AI assistant that only says what the site can back up.
Sourced facts, not estimates
- Admission price index: every price carries its source and date (“as of 09/2026”).
- Opening hours with live status: the site shows whether a place is open right now and today's hours.
- Filters that match intent: free sights, open now, prices, districts and categories.
Ask the guide
Visitors ask in their own words – say, “It's raining and we have kids with us, what works?” – and get an answer in German or English that links straight to the matching entries. The assistant answers only from the site's own data.
To keep it reliable, the code does what a language model cannot do dependably: opening hours are calculated, not guessed, and guards check prices and dates in every answer. Quality is measured with an eval set of 49 test questions. The model runs on Mistral AI with servers in the EU and can be switched to Claude.
Getting found and earning
Search titles and descriptions are generated automatically and include price and opening hours – exactly what people search for – alongside structured data and a sitemap. Labelled ticket links to GetYourGuide sit next to the official admission price.
Stack: Laravel 11 (PHP 8.2+), PostgreSQL, Filament as admin, Blade, Sass, Vite and Alpine.js on the front end; an AI service in Python with FastAPI and Mistral AI; self-hosted, cookie-free Umami; tests with Pest and pytest; hosted via Laravel Forge.
